The Altitude Census · 2026
How high does Bangkok drink?
We logged the floor number of all 105 rooftop bars in Bangkok — from a first-floor terrace to a deck on the 78th floor — to map exactly where the city takes its drinks.
(Combined, they sit atop 2,807 floors of building — stack them into one tower and the top bar pours from 9.0 km up, just above Everest's summit.)

Bangkok drinks at two altitudes
The census's oddest finding: there's almost nobody in the middle. 39 bars sit within ten floors of the street, just 2 occupy floors 11–20, and then the sky bars begin. Bangkok pours at street level or from a tower — rarely in between.
The neighborhood altitude ladder
Average floor by neighborhood, for areas with at least four rooftops. Silom / Riverside drinks 15× higher than Khao San / Phra Nakhon — the river district builds up, the old town stays on its shophouse roofs.

Altitude isn't free: across these same venues, every floor adds roughly ฿8 to the price of a cocktail. The full numbers live in the Bangkok Rooftop Cocktail Index.
Methodology
Floor numbers cover all 105 rooftop bars we track in Bangkok and always use the venue's lowest rooftop level — a bar spanning floors 61–63 counts as 61. Neighborhood averages are only shown for areas with four or more venues. The stacked-tower figure assumes 3.2 m per storey. Venue list last updated July 2026.
